When a wealthy benefactor and alumnus of Eastern Friends School in Pennsylvania is found murdered, details at the scene prompt Lt. Frank DiSalvo to introduce himself at a faculty meeting. There he meets Maxwell Hunter, an English teacher who likes to lecture about the mysteries of literature. At first, DiSalvo brushes off Hunter’s offer of help, but when the second EFS-connected murder is discovered, he changes his mind.

With his sharp eye for detail, and uncanny ability to assemble the pieces of the picture, Hunter identifies the literary modus operandi… but can he predict the next attack time to prevent another murder?  

 

Gus Cileone graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in English, and holds a Master of Arts, also in English. He also earned teaching certificates in elementary and secondary education. He has won literary prizes in playwriting and fiction competitions. He is retired, but still works part-time for the United States  Government.

A Lesson in Murder is Mr. Cileone’s first novel. He is currently working on a second novel.

Bizarre murders are happening and they all seem connected to Eastern Friends School in Pennsylvania. Lt. Frank DiSalvo is assigned to the cases and recruits Maxwell Hunter, an English teacher, to help him out. Hunter in turn recruits his girl friend Patricia and one of his students. 
 
The deaths are happening to parents of some of Hunter’s students or ex-students. Clues are left at every death scene but the clues are not easy to decipher. 
 
Eventually Maxwell Hunter begins to unravel the tangled pieces of the puzzle and the book is brought to an exciting and surprising conclusion. Little did Maxwell Hunter know that the lessons he taught his students would eventually be used as a diagram for murder.
