This was a really text-heavy one, but we didn't want to give up any of the reviews and the desc. blurb was long so the colors make the different text items more distinct. This is is third in a series, and I have all the covers pretty much the same look. The fronts too. The author and I like  to see colors that have a Southwest tone, as that is the setting for this series...Albuquerque and environs. This too is a series...and the look is the same on all, the tablet is a device of the story whose main character is a newspaper reporter.
The author and I were wanted to have some more on the tropical location,
and it didn't really work on the front, so we did this. Also, the trees and the big
"sun" shape, we hope, conveys the feel that this novel doesn't take itself too seriously.

This was a re-release. The first edition cover (not OTP) was hideous, but it featured grapevines, which there are acres of in the San Joaquin Valley. The author had bought grape and raisin promo stuff, so we needed to keep some kind of connection on the cover to make that meaningful. Another one with a lot of text, and the color boxes break it up and make it more interesting. The back covers need to be almost as much of a visual experience as the front, and in many instances, they either need to be the cornerstone of other promo stuff, or carry the brand look of a series.
